Regional museum “Römervilla”

It was already in 1893 that ruins of a Roman building were discovered in this area during some works on the water conduit. Furthermore, in 1983 the western edge of a large Roman villa urbana and a corresponding water basin were discovered at the beginning of some construction works. Today, the shelter, built up over the two-meter high walls, hosts an interesting museum. There you can see regional archaeological findings explaining the everyday-life of the Romans between 80 and 280 after Christ. This museum is unique in the administrative district of Lörrach. In 2011 during its reorganisation the association for local history took into consideration that the museum has become interesting and attractive for children and young people, too.
