Roman Fort and Vicus

Riegel – Romans and Rockets” – that’s the title of the contrasting permanent exhibition in the award-winning Archaeological Museum: it features 300 original artefacts from the Roman times and offers numerous exhibits of aerospace propulsion technology. Almost 2000 years ago Riegel at the Kaiserstuhl was the Roman administrative centre of the region, so to speak the “Freiburg of the antiquity”. Evidence for that are diverse. In the museum and on the archaeological trail with the partially reconstructed temple of Mithras, you can experience the significant history of Riegel at the Kaiserstuhl. We’re looking forward to your visit!
